Seneca Holdings is the investment arm of the Seneca Nation, a federally recognized Native Nation of more than 8,500 members. Founded in 2009, Seneca Holdings generates lasting economic returns to give back to the Seneca Nation and its people. Our mission is straightforward: Build a portfolio of profitable businesses that delivers long-term, sustained income and economic self-sufficiency for the Seneca Nation.
The mission of a tribally owned business is to improve the lives of an entire community, particularly those in need.
Today, the Seneca Holdings portfolio spans federal and commercial markets with more than 1,300 employees across the U.S. and abroad. We invest with the long view, guided by the principle of the Seventh Generation, to generate steady, long-term returns that support the Seneca Nation’s ability to serve its members.
As a tribally owned enterprise, our profits flow directly to the Seneca Nation, where they are used to fund programs, services, and critical support for members. We bring the values of the Seneca Nation to every partnership, delivering measurable benefits to our businesses, our clients, and our team members.
Every dollar we earn, and every dollar that we save, benefits the Seneca Nation.
Working with tribally owned businesses is a value-added opportunity in today’s market, and one that directly strengthens Native communities.
How We Honor Our Commitment
Our success returns meaningful resources to the Seneca Nation, and we’re proud to contribute more than funding. In addition to financial distributions to the Seneca Nation, our team actively seeks out ways to support the Seneca people.
Summer Internship Program
We’re pleased to offer paid internships for Seneca college-aged students, giving them real-world experience and the skills to thrive in professional settings. Our interns bring sharp energy and curiosity each summer as they dive into finance, marketing, HR, IT, and other subjects. We are proud that our internship program has resulted in several young members of the Seneca Nation joining the company full time after graduation.
Professional Development for Seneca Youth
Our team provides professional development opportunities for Seneca high school and college students, partnering with on-territory programs to build skills in financial literacy, teamwork, leadership, public speaking, and professional writing. We’re committed to supporting the next generation of Seneca leaders.
Fiber Network Project
In partnership with Seneca Energy, the Seneca Nation’s energy company, we helped fund and support the development of a 50-mile fiber network on the Cattaraugus Territory, bringing high-speed internet to an area that previously had none. Today, the network delivers affordable internet and phone services to more than 500 homes and businesses.
Annual Marvin “Joe” Curry Veterans Powwow
The Allegany Territory powwow is a cornerstone event for the Seneca people and visitors from across the country. It honors Native American veterans and carries the name of Marvin “Joe” Curry of the Snipe Clan, who served with distinction in the U.S. Navy. Seneca Holdings is honored to sponsor and support this longstanding celebration.
Holiday Gift Drive
The annual Holiday Gift Drive has become a meaningful addition for Seneca Holdings team members — a true reflection of the connection and community spirit that defines our team. Each year, we partner with the Seneca Nation’s Crime Victim Services Unit and Family Services Program to generously donate hundreds of gifts for children and teens across the Cattaraugus and Allegany territories. The overwhelming generosity of gifts donated by our team members reflects the way our team embraces our mission of supporting the Seneca Nation.
Fundraising for Seneca Organizations
Our team has stepped up to organize fundraisers for Seneca organizations, addressing issues they care deeply about. Seneca Holdings and our employees have contributed to several groups, including the following:
- Faithkeeper’s School — A Seneca-language Montessori school for children ages 3-9 in the Allegany Territory. With fewer than 40 fluent speakers remaining, and fewer than five who consider the Seneca language their first language, the school plays a critical role in language survival.
- Agwadeyësta’ Do:gë:h — A nonprofit dedicated to preserving and revitalizing the Seneca language. This group’s work supports language and cultural programs on the Allegany and Cattaraugus territories, hosting community classes, sponsoring conferences, and funding teacher development and classroom resources.
- Ëyetinëtšinéhshö’ Immersed Learning Nest (ËILN) — Located in the Cattaraugus Early Childhood Learning Center, the ËILN is a unique program that provides full Seneca language immersion for young children, using no English. The Waldorf-inspired classroom takes a holistic approach to the students’ practical, intellectual, and artistic development.
Our team continues to support efforts to help raise the next generation of Seneca language speakers. This is one of many ways we honor our commitment to the children of the Seneca Nation and to the future.
